New Consumer Unit Supply and Installation
Consumer units, commonly known as fuse boards or fuse boxes, are the heart of domestic electrical installations and are essential for controlling the electrical function of your property, along with ensuring its safety by detecting problems.
If any of the following are true, it is likely that you have an old style consumer unit that no longer meets UK wiring regulations and should be upgraded:
- Your house was built before 1990
- You have had no rewiring work done in the past 10 years
- Your current fuse board doesn’t have a residual current device (RCD)
If you think you may need a consumer unit upgrade, our experienced, certified electricians are available to supply and install new consumer units in Wirral, Liverpool, Cheshire, North Wales and North West regions.

Upgrading to a new consumer unit will provide better electrical safety to your property and ensure your home meets the current electrical regulations.
Modern fuse boards (or consumer units) are made from non-combustible materials so provide better protection against fire originating from electrical faults and are fitted with a RCD (residual current device) which is designed to prevent fatal electric shocks if a live element (such as a bare wire) is touched. Additionally, a modern consumer unit improves efficiency and will prolong the life of your electrics whilst allowing for future home improvements such as extensions.
